Misogyny is translated from Greek.

It is now an umbrella term that covers a wide range of prejudiced and prejudiced attitudes towards women based on gender, from hatred to the belief that women are not naturally capable of doing any of the activities that men can do.

The most terminal manifestations of misogyny are justly considered cases of gender-based hatred.

To begin with, it should be noted that misogyny, including in the form of hatred of women, occurs in both sexes.

Why does this occur

The reasons for the emergence of gender-based hatred in each case are individual, but they are always based on one of two false logical chains:

It is necessary to follow some “correct” social regulations and conform to the image of the “correct woman”

If there is a discrepancy, then this serves as a reason for dehumanizing a woman and treating her on the part of people holding such views as something vile that can and should even be hated.

Most often, such a logical chain leading to hatred is found in men and women who hold conservative views.

Within the framework of this paradigm, each person is considered not as a free individual who has the right to realize himself within the framework of human rights, but as a bearer of a certain social role. And refusing to comply is seen as a crime worthy of hate. Indeed, according to those who hate, the “violator” destroys public order, literally bringing the world closer to “death”.

Obviously, this is completely contrary to both human rights and historical experience – the gradual expansion of human rights and freedoms over the past two centuries has been accompanied by an increase in the welfare, education and quality of life of mankind.

X did badly, so all Xs are bad

This is the second false logical chain that very often leads to gender-based hatred.

It is based on an erroneous generalization, stating that if, in your opinion, something bad was done to you by a woman (1), then “all women are like that” and she did this bad thing because she is of that gender.

Very often one can see that these two erroneous logical chains complement each other in misogynistic people. A woman begins to be considered worthy of hatred because she does not correspond to certain ideas about her social role, and then they spread this hatred to all women, arguing that women are unable or unwilling to behave “correctly” because they are women, which means “malicious by nature.”

Pseudo-scientific justifications for this hatred are very often found here, most often based on refuted or frankly freakish hypotheses. In Russia, in particular, “justifications” from a certain “Professor Savelyev”, who is a nominee for the VRAL scientific anti-prize awarded to pseudoscientists, are popular.

What is the result

Thus, misogyny, like hatred, is usually the result of logical errors, often dictated by the desire of ideologically charged people to fit the problem to the answer and impose their ideas of “right” on all women. The inability to fulfill this desire leads them to frustration, which turns into hatred.

Often there is also an unsuccessful experience of interpersonal contacts, which traumatizes the participant or participant in such contacts, and leads him or her to erroneously spread the impressions from this painful experience to the entire female sex – this is usually the second erroneous logical chain we have considered in its pure form.

Because we are talking about misogyny, we write about women, but in fact this false generalization is often made on any basis – men, this or that race or nation, and so on.
